Day 90

Tonight I went to watch a reggae band play at Mandala Arts cafe. After a brilliant cover of Summertime (made famous by Janis Joplin) I took this little snap.

Day 89

There's something really industrial and decrepit about this image. There are clues in the exterior to expose a seemingly run down neighbourhood. Empty shop for lease next door, weeds out the front, no through roads and grey skies.

Day 88

There's something about this image that I really like. I have a fondness for art in which the subject is not at first easily recognisable. The contrast of light and shape in this image give me a sense of mystery, and I find myself searching and trying to create a story.

Day 87

Two friends enjoy a glass of wine at an exhibition opening in Surfers Paradise. Black Coffee Lyrics had live music, tapas and best of all wine! I snapped this image out the front.

We were playing around in the kitchen when I took this snap. It's not one of my favourite images however it has a bit of charisma to it :p

Day 85

I took this on my late afternoon stroll along Broadbeach beach. The buildings of Surfers Paradise are looming on the horizon as people walk near the rising tide.

Day 84

I seem to be spending a lot of my time at the Mandala organic arts restaurant of late. We came here after an art exhibition and were pleased to find the place buzzing with atmosphere and a great band playing. Due to lack of seating we positioned ourselves in the tee pee, drank from coconuts, and enjoyed some soya ice cream.

This is the beautiful Celeste whom I shot for PMA models. It was a lovely day on the beach and we got some amazing shots. Amelda Webster did a wonderful job with hair and makeup once again.

Day 82

A rainy late afternoon found mum (pictured above) and myself sitting at organic arts drinking coffee and talking about the world. She is always one to get involved with my photography and express ideas. She placed her cardigan over her head whilst I took this image. I think the contrast, colour and pattern work really well.

Green tea lime and lemongrass infusion, china cups, and sunshine. I couldn't help but take a photo of this delightful ensemble as I lounged on the Cardamon Pod couches taking in the day.

Day 78

Today was a bit of a struggle. I may have had one or five too many glasses of wine last night :p This is a macro shot of this amazing clock thats my dad owns. I adjusted clarity and contrast in Lightroom.

The day got away from me today and I quickly took this image as I was heading out the door. I photoshopped the detail of my face out so the focus is purely on the lips.

Day 76

This is my beautiful model Carly from todays shoot at PMA. I wanted to add a grungy look and achieved this by playing around with Lightroom presets. I then went into photoshop to do a few final adjustments. Makeup was done by the extremely talented Amelda Webster from Closeup hair and makeup.

I took this image because I really liked the patterns in the water. I had been cooking with oils and filled my plate up with water thus creating the above image. I played around with the colour on photoshop.

This is our  neighbour Frank. He likes to spend time outside, build things and drink tea. We often get caught up in discussions about French literature and the philosophies of Jean Baudrillard. Taken with my Macro lens with the clarity enhanced in Lightroom.

This is a macro image I took this evening. I had so much work to do today that this was all I could muster! My little dogs fur has been caught in a cobweb. I like the clarity and shape in this photo.

Day 72

This is the famous Mudgeeraba haunted house. Tucked away on Springbrook rd this creepy residence has quite the sordid history. Rumour has it post WW2 the family that lived in the house were a tad on the loopy side. One day the father took his wife and kids down to their war bunker and killed them, then killed himself. If you go around the back to the damn you can see the caretakers house just over the hill. He has been known to come running out shovel (or guitar so I have heard) in hand to chase trespassers off the property. Creepy!

Day 71

Meet the ants that somehow manage to sneak into my house, into my sugar and into my cups of tea. Eww. There's something quite interesting about getting down close into the life of bugs. I took this with my macro lens and enhanced the colour using vibrance in lightroom.

Another sunny day in Miami, not a cloud in the sky (except the fake ones I put in ;p) Not an entirely interesting photo, however it's the best I could muster for a lazy saturday in the sun.

I am a massive fan of noise in photographs. I know it's a bit of a technical no no however I think it really aids some images and gives it a certain feel. I really like the simplicity and vintage feel of the above image.

Day 67

This is an image of the front cover of my new Diary. I like to keep a little moleskin style diary in my bag at all times incase inspiration strikes. I found this in a shop for $3...bargain!! It does slightly remind me of the movie Antichrist though "shudders" anyone who has seen it would know what I mean. If you haven't seen it, don't...or at least prepare yourself for some seriously disturbing visuals :P

Day 66

We were driving along the highway today and I decided to wind down my window and take a quick snap of a passing motorbike....not realising he would turn around just as I was taking my photo!! Albeit feeling like a bit of a stalker, I think the image works really well with him looking at the camera.

Something about this wall mural really caught my eye. Perhaps it was the fact that the main subject has the same colour hair as me....or it may be the giant gun pointing in my direction. Either way it captured my attention.

Day 64

This image was taken at the Belgium Beer cafe Brussels in Brisbane CBD. Even though I hate the taste of beer, I have to say their cherry beer was extremely...bearable. I turned the image black & white then overlayed this really cool font texture and changed my opacity to darken.

Day 63

This is the inside of the Mandala arts cafe in Mermaid Beach. It has a really amazing organic vegan menu and REALLY good coffee! Some very talented artists exhibit their work on the walls, so there is plenty to look at. I overlayed an already made action I found online, they are perfect for creating effects that you wouldn't usually create yourself.
